History of the breed

The breed of the Hungarian Wirehaired Pointer was developed from the 1930s. It is the result of the cross between the Hungarian Shorthaired Pointer and the German Wirehaired Pointer. He is a dog of the Hungarian nobility. It was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on March 27, 1963. Its official FCI standard in force was published on April 6, 2000.
