History of the breed
The Polish Brachet corresponds to a very old breed , since it is estimated that its appearance dates from the 13th century . This dog was used very early by the Polish nobility during hunting parties, especially for big game. According to some sources, the Polish Brachet as we know it today is the result of crosses between the Saint-Hubert Dog and local breeds .
Outside of its country of origin, Poland, very few representatives of the breed are found. The latter was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on January 29, 1965.

Love strangers |
The Polish Brachet is a balanced dog, full of vitality and passion , especially when he is hunting. His extremely fine flair , endurance and determination push him to tirelessly follow the fragrant tracks over long distances and over difficult terrain. The Polish Brachet is also appreciated by hunters for its clear and assertive voice. In the family, he is an excellent companion who knows how to show affection and loyalty to his owners. His vigilance and his mistrust of strangers naturally predispose him to keep the property of his family in the face of any intrusion attempt.
Education…
If hunting dogs are generally considered not very docile and difficult to train, the Polish Brachet is undoubtedly one of the exceptions to this rule. Obedient and intelligent , he does not pose a major problem at the time of his education, as long as it is sufficiently precocious and balanced (firmness and gentleness). He must learn the recall early enough to avoid incidents in adulthood.
