History of the breed

The creation of the Braque Saint-Germain breed dates back to the 1830s . At that time, pointers and pointers were crossed in the royal kennels of Compiègne and Saint-Germain-en-Laye . It is also from this last town that the breed takes its name . It enjoyed great popularity with hunters until around the turn of the last century. The breed club was also founded in March 1913. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) recognized the Braque Saint-Germain breed definitively on December 16, 1954. This dog remains relatively uncommon nowadays , since there are only a few dozen births per year.
