History of the breed
The race of Hanoverian red dog as we know it today was high from the 17th century in the Hanover region in northern Germany. The ancestors of the Red Dog of Hanover are the ancient German bloodhounds , which gave rise to a wide variety of Germanic hunting dogs.
Physical features
His hair: short, thick, rough in texture. It is a little longer at the rear edges of the thighs, as well as on the lower part of the tail.
Its color: light to dark red, can be brindle and with or without mask.
His head: wrinkled at the forehead. The skull is broad, especially towards the rear, and slightly rounded. The stop is strongly pronounced, especially in males. The nose is large and black, the nostrils well open. The muzzle is strong, deep and wide. The lips are rounded and hanging. The jaws are powerful, straight and articulated in scissors or pincers. The cheeks are well muscled.
Its ears: of medium size, set high, wide, soft, hanging without twisting and slightly rounded at their tip.
His eyes: neither prominent nor too deep, dark brown in color and displaying a serious expression.
Its body: writable in a rectangle, being longer than high at the withers. The neck is long, strong and gradually widened towards the chest. The topline is long, the back strong, the kidney wide and slightly arched, the croup wide and long, the chest deep and full and the belly slightly raised.
Its tail: set high, long, slightly curved, thick at its root and tapering towards its end.
