History of the breed
From the 18th century, the breed was very popular with hunters. Competitions for pointers were held at the end of the 19th century in its country of origin, Hungary, and the Hungarian short-haired pointer distinguished himself there in a remarkable way. More sustained breeding began in 1920. The Hungarian Shorthaired Pointer breed was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on August 12, 1954, after a first recognition in 1936.
