History of the breed

the   Sloughi had been bred for hundreds of years in North Africa , notably by Bedouins and nomadic tribes who exploited his hunting skills . Today, even if some representatives of the breed can be found in Algeria, Tunisia and Libya, it is especially in Morocco that the Sloughi endures. It is moreover the country of the Atlas which holds the standard.

The Sloughi breed was definitively recognized by the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) on November 8, 1934. Its official FCI standard in force was published on January 8, 1998.

the   Sloughi is a very low maintenance dog . His short coat requires only basic care, but his diet must be complete and balanced, especially if he is called to run often.

It is recommended to brush the dog once a week and to regularly inspect its skin, the condition of its pads and the inside of its ears. The objective is to detect and treat any debris, external parasites and lesions. It does not need to be bathed regularly. 2 or 3 baths per year are sufficient.

His teeth need to be brushed to eliminate the build-up of tartar and the proliferation of bacteria. If they do not wear out naturally, its claws need to be cut. If you are new to this, it is recommended that you seek advice from a veterinarian.
