History of the breed
The Yugoslav Mountain Hound shares the same origins as most of the hound breeds developed in the Balkan region , where it was once known as the Black Hound. A first breed standard was developed in the interwar period , in 1924. Apart from its region of origin, where it remains quite rare , the Yugoslav mountain scent is very little known.

The Yugoslav Mountain Hound requires only basic maintenance , but should be done on a regular basis.
It is recommended to brush the dog once a week , to remove dead hair and any debris or parasites that may lodge on the skin. Its hair, ears, eyes and pads should be examined after each outing in the wild to detect and remove any debris or external parasites.
His teeth need to be brushed frequently to remove tartar build-up and the proliferation of bacteria. Finally, if they do not wear out naturally, its claws need to be cut. If you are new to this, it is recommended that you seek advice from a veterinarian or groomer.
