Physical features

His coat: short (no more than 2 cm in length) and hard, lying flat on the body, rough in texture and shiny in appearance.
Its color: red, russet or black and tan, with a dark mask.
His head: large in relation to the body. The skull is broad and round, the forehead rounded, the stop very marked, the nose black and broad, the muzzle short, the lips black and very tight.
Its ears: small, set high and well apart, carried semi-erect, falling forward.
His eyes: round, large, wide apart, brown in color (the darker the better).
His body: writable in a square. The withers are moderately extended, the back straight and strong, the loins short and muscular, the croup broad and flat, the chest reaching down to the elbows, the belly slightly raised.
Its tail: attached and carried high, with the tip facing the back (without curling).

The Petit Brabançon is a curious dog, playful, alert and rather sure of himself. He is even sometimes a little too reckless, not hesitating to challenge dogs much larger than him. Very attached to his master, he cannot stand being alone . He can get along with children if he has been properly educated and if they do not brutalize him. He can sometimes have mood swings.

Living conditions

The Petit Brabançon adapts to most of the lifestyles that its master can offer it, as long as it has the possibility of staying with it. He adapts easily to an urban environment and apartment living, but being able to have a large garden would also be a good thing for this little dog. Families with young children should remain vigilant , as their behaviors can be misinterpreted by the dog. The Petit Brabançon requires less maintenance than the Griffon Bruxellois and the Griffon Belge, especially in terms of the coat. However, care must remain regular.

The Petit Brabançon needs a good daily walk to stretch its legs and get some fresh air. He is not a great athlete , but he should not be deprived of physical activity either.

Hygiene…
It is recommended to trim the hairs from the edge of the ears and the end of the tail from time to time. The hairs on the back of the thigh can also be shortened if necessary. The dog’s eyes should be cleaned regularly, just like his ears with a cotton ball soaked in an ear lotion.
