If canine owners had to choose between their dog and their partner, half would clearly prioritize their 4-legged friend. This is what the statistics revealed by the Rover.com site suggest.
“ The Truth About Dog People ” is the title of a report published in May 2017 on Rover.com , the leading dog-sitting and dog-walking site in the United States. The study details the characteristics of dog owners and the nature of their relationship with their animals, but also with their partners and families .
The authors analyzed data and interviewed more than 2,000 people living with dogs, as well as statistics from other sources, including The Harris Poll .
They discovered that 54% of dog owners said they were willing to end their romantic relationship if they noticed that their dogs did not like their spouse (s), companions or companions .
The report also tells us that nearly half (47%) of those surveyed would prefer to separate from their partners for a week rather than their dogs during the same period.
Almost two-thirds (65%) admitted to taking more pictures of their four-legged friends than their halves. In the same vein, 80% of canine owners said they would include their dogs in their important photos , such as marriage proposals, family vacation snaps or even greeting cards.
Dogs also seem to have priority when returning home; 56% say hello to their pet first when they get home.
Finally, the overwhelming majority (94%) consider the dog to be a full member of the family , rather than just a pet.
