A 7-year-old child honored by an American association for having saved more than 1,300 dogs

Roman McConn was awarded the title of Child of the Year by ASPCA. This little boy and his mother have set up a program that has saved, to date, more than 1,300 dogs that were at risk of euthanasia.

Despite being only 7 years old , Roman McConn has helped save an impressive number of dogs since he blew out his 4th candle, as Inside Edition tells us.

3 years ago, in fact, he had given himself this mission by giving up his birthday gifts and asking that they be replaced by money which he then gave to a local shelter . He had been concerned about the fate of dogs living in euthanasia shelters since he and his mother, Jennifer McConn , adopted one in July 2015. His mother had volunteered at various local shelters (they lived in Texas at the time) and, along with Roman , she was creating and posting videos to help quadrupeds that no one wanted and who were therefore in danger of being euthanized.

Jennifer and her son then moved , settling in Washington State (Northwestern United States). She joked to herself that she would one day create an underground rail line to transport unwanted dogs from Texas to Washington State, where she believes animals are generally treated better . What was then evoked in the tone of humor finally led to a concrete program ; Jennifer and Roman started Project Freedom Ride , making it easier to adopt these dogs.

In December 2016, a first convoy of 31 Texan shelter dogs sending them to their new respective families in the Northwest of the country was successfully organized. Since then, an average of 50 quadrupeds have been transported in this way every month , escaping being killed and starting a new chapter in their life much happier.
