History of the breed

Coton de Tulear finds its origins in the region of Tulear in the south of Madagascar . Like many breeds, its history remains uncertain. Nevertheless, his descent with various types of lapdogs, present on commercial vessels of French settlers in the 16th ^century, is obvious. The first specimen brought back to France dates from 1977. The breed standard was recognized in 1970.

Physical features
