History of the breed
The Finnish Hound began to be developed after the establishment of the Finnish Kennel Club in 1889 . He descends from crosses between local dogs and various European hounds. A first standard was developed in 1932. That of the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) in force was published on July 17, 1997. The breed of the Finnish Hound was definitively recognized by the FCI on August 8, 1954. Outside from its country of origin, Finland, the Finnish Hound remains relatively uncommon.
Physical features
His hair: of medium length, straight, well laid, tight, of rough texture. The outer coat is associated with a short, tight and softer undercoat.
Its color: tricolor, composed of a black coat, intense tan markings on the head, lower parts of the body, shoulders and thighs, as well as white markings on the head, neck, chest , on the lower part of the limbs and at the end of the tail.
His head: rather long. The skull is of regular width and has a rounded top. The stop is light, but clearly drawn. The truffle is well developed and black in color.
Its ears: flat, drooping, the anterior edge against the head and the posterior edge directed outwards. Attached at the level of the line connecting the nose and the eyes.
His eyes: dark brown in color, displaying a calm gaze.
His body: strong build but not heavy. The neck is medium in length, muscular and well defined, the back of medium length and straight, the croup well developed and long.
Its tail: moderately curved, set low, it is thick at its base and tapers towards its end. Raised in action.
