History of the breed
The Swiss Appenzell Bouvier Club was founded in 1906 , when the first valid standard, drawn up by Professor Albert Heim, was published in 1914. That of the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) in force was published. on March 25, 2003.

Physical features
His coat: rather short, firm, well laid, dense and shiny.
Its color: tricolor, made up of a black or tan background, symmetrical tan or white markings. Tan markings above the eyes, on the cheeks, on the chest and on the limbs. Gray, black or brown undercoat.
His head: well proportioned to the body. The skull is rather flat, the stop is not very marked, the nose is black (black dress) or dark brown (tan color), the muzzle moderately powerful, the muzzle very straight and the cheeks little marked.
Its ears: set high, wide at their base, drooping against the cheeks, triangular in shape, with slightly rounded ends, raised at the level of the attachment and turned forward when the dog is awake.
His eyes: small, almond-shaped, dark to brown in color (black-coated dogs) or lighter brown (tan-colored dogs), displaying an alert and mischievous expression.
Its body: robust, compact, compact, writable in a square. The neck is short and vigorous, the back moderately long and firm, the lumbar region short and muscular, the chest wide and well let down, the belly very slightly raised.
Its tail: thick, set on high, of medium length, well furnished with slightly longer hairs on its inner face, rolled up in a tight ring on the rump when the dog is active.
