History of the breed
The race of Bichon frize is quite old. Appeared around the 14th century , it would be the result of crossing the Barbet (also at the origin of the Poodle) and the Bichon Maltais. Long called Bichon de Ténériffe, it arrived in France during the 16th century and quickly found considerable success, especially with kings François I and Henri III and their courts.
Its popularity then declined somewhat in France. Thanks to a Belgian breeder, the breed was able to be saved after World War II, which could have made it disappear. It was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on October 28, 1959.

Physical features
Its hair: long (7 to 10 cm in length), fine, silky, supple, corkscrew, never flat or strung.
Its color: pure white.
Its head: rather flat, longer than the muzzle. The stop is slightly accentuated, the nose is rounded and very black, the lips thin and dry, the cheeks flat.
His ears: thin, drooping, well covered with long curly hairs, carried forward when the dog is attentive.
His eyes: as dark as possible, rather rounded in shape, with dark eyelids too.
His body: the kidney is wide and well muscled, the croup slightly rounded, the chest well developed and the sides well raised in the belly.
Its tail: set slightly below the line of the back, carried up and curved, but without curling.
