History of the breed

The Affenpinscher   corresponds to a very old race . He descends from dogs represented as early as the 16th century by the German artist Albrecht Dürer on his wood engravings. The first records of Affenpinschers date back to 1879. From the beginning of the 20th century, these dogs developed on the basis of wire-haired Pinschers meet with great success. Over the selections, the black coat was favored over the other colors, including yellowish, reddish, grayish white and dark gray. The Affenpinscher breed was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on July 15, 1955.

Physical features

His hair: hard, dense, forming a characteristic adornment on the head (bushy eyebrows, eyes framed in a crown, full beard, forelock and sideburns). The outer coat is associated with an undercoat.
Its color: completely black.
His head: round, with ape-like expression. The skull is rounded, the forehead well defined, the stop accentuated, the nose round and black, the nostrils well open, the muzzle and the muzzle straight, the lips well applied and black.

Education

The Affenpinscher   requires a firm enough education to attenuate this strong head side which it can sometimes display, as well as its ardor. Other than that, his education is not very difficult. This dog must also be socialized early enough so that he can get along with his fellows and other animals he is called to meet.

Maintenance and hygiene

The Affenpinscher   is a fairly easy dog to care for . It does not require a lot of effort at this level, but maintenance must remain regular. During the moult, he experiences moderate hair loss , but it is recommended to give him a diet richer in salts during this period.

It is recommended to brush the dog once a week to properly maintain its coat. During the moult, brushing is to be done 2 to 3 times a week.
