Ease of grooming |
The silky coat of the English Cocker Spaniel requires daily maintenance , as impurities of all kinds can easily get mixed up in it during walks. On the grooming side, the English Cocker Spaniel should not especially be shaved , under penalty of seeing his hair curl when regrowing.
The Cocker Spaniel can be brushed about 2 to 3 times a week , in order to avoid knots. A bath from time to time is possible. The ideal is to schedule a session with a professional groomer about every 2 months. Hair that is too long can be cut so that it does not drag on the floor.
It is recommended to clean the ears every week with hydrophilic cotton, to mow the inside and to lighten its attachment by cutting a few hairs. These measures help prevent the occurrence of an ear infection. Regular brushing of the dog’s teeth helps eliminate tartar build-up and the growth of bacteria. If necessary, the nails can be cut. If you are new to this, it is best to seek advice from a veterinarian.
