The Miniature Pinscher is a wonderful life companion. He is adorable in every way. Stylish, quite small, it is suitable for the whole family, including children. It is a very sociable dog made to live indoors and has a playful temperament. He is blessed with very good health and is not difficult to maintain. The Miniature Pinscher is a robust and elegant dog, despite his small size. He is a kind of reduced version of the German Pinscher, but without presenting any defect of dwarfism. He is also not greyhound. The figure of the Miniature Pinscher is writable in a square.

History of the breed

The Miniature Pinscher has its origins in the Grand Duchy of Bavaria and the province of Württemberg. Responsible for chasing harmful rodents, he kept company with the coachmen and their teams. It looks exactly like the German Pinscher but smaller, also has some similarities with the Doberman Pinscher. The Miniature Pinscher quickly found great success in its region of origin and in Germany in general, so much so that the numbers of the breed increased towards the beginning of the last century.

In 1925, the Book of Origins counted 1300 representatives of the breed. Little by little, the selections made it possible to keep only the colors black, tan and red. The Miniature Pinscher breed was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on July 14, 1955.

The Miniature Pinscher is made for family life . He is pleasant, at the same time calm and energetic , gentle and alert . He is as playful as he is intelligent . His small size prevents him from being a good working dog . So what ? He has many assets to satisfy his master and his adoptive family.

Loyal, faithful , he adores being surrounded by those close to him. He loves children and does not hesitate to play with them. It tolerates the presence of strangers as well as congeners. Loneliness does not scare him but should not last too long. On his return, his master will have the right to a nice little party.

Education

Clever
Obedient

To educate him, his master must go through the game . With a fiery temperament, the Miniature Pinscher enjoys learning while having fun. It is therefore not necessary to proceed with a strict or firm education . On the contrary, he could turn around and not carry out the orders received. However, he should not take his education as a game . His training must therefore begin as soon as possible.

Living conditions

Suitable for apartment living
Good for new masters
Love it hot
Love the cold

By its small size and its sensitivity to climatic rigors , the Miniature Pinscher is rather an indoor dog. It therefore adapts perfectly to living in an apartment. While his barking can sometimes be annoying for neighbors, he will have to learn to be quiet. Indeed, the Miniature Pinscher is made more for living indoors , in an apartment , rather than in the countryside in the great outdoors. A garden is not compulsory as long as it can benefit from daily outings. More or less long outings.

Ease of grooming

The Miniature Pinscher does not moult. Its hair loss is therefore minimal , as is its maintenance. The latter must however remain regular.

Brushing the Miniature Pinscher should be done at least once a week, not more, with a soft bristle brush for example. This helps maintain a silky and shiny dress. It is not recommended to bathe it frequently as it may dry out its skin, except when it is really necessary.

It is possible to clean his eyes and ears from time to time to avoid infection. His teeth need to be brushed regularly to prevent tartar build-up and the proliferation of bacteria. Finally, if they do not wear out naturally, his nails need to be cut. If you are new to this, it is recommended that you seek advice from a veterinarian.
