Last week, motorists, police and rescuers mobilized to help a dog who had taken refuge under a car after a dangerous ride on the highway.

On Wednesday, October 14, a woman was driving her car around 5:30 p.m. local time on Highway 427 in Toronto , Canada, when she saw a small dog running near the driveway . Fearing for the life of the canine, the motorist decided to stop to try to attract him and bring him to safety .

The animal in question, a Chihuahua , was terrified , however, and had no intention of being approached by the lady. He then hid under a car , then found refuge near the gas tank , reports CTV News .

2 other motorists stopped in their turn to help the first to recover the dog, but the latter was impossible to dislodge . He chattered his teeth with each attempt to approach. The emergency services and the Ontario Provincial Police were called, and the access road to Highway 427 temporarily closed.

It was then decided to tow the vehicle to a nearby parking lot, so that animal control officers could intervene safely. They are the ones who, in the end, managed to lure the Chihuahua out of the car and take charge of it .
