The name Pinscher designates 2 varieties of dogs that are mainly differentiated by their size: the German Pinscher (or average Pinscher) and the Miniature Pinscher, whose smallest subjects are often called Pinscher Toy. The German Pinscher is a medium-sized dog, harmoniously built and endowed with good musculature. Its allure is proud and distinguished. The same is true for the Miniature Pinscher, which shares its main physical traits, but in a reduced version. The Miniature Pinscher is also inscribed in a square.

History of the breed

A very old breed, the Pinscher was already the subject of articles at the end of the 19th century in Germany . Having common ancestors with the Schnauzer , he stood out from the latter by his short coat, while the Schnauzer was sometimes called Wire -haired Pinscher. Over the selections, we approached current standards, particularly in terms of the color of the dress, the black one with tan markings having been favored. Whether it is one or the other of the 2 varieties (German or dwarf), the Pinscher breed was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale on July 14, 1955.
