Robert, homeless, has only his 2 dogs as his only family. One of them had been stolen from him while he was sleeping. The animal was eventually found safe and the perpetrators of the theft were convicted this week.
This Tuesday (October 22), the 2 men suspected of stealing the dog of a homeless man appeared before the Montpellier Criminal Court , reports Midi Libre . Found guilty, they were sentenced to 5 months suspended prison sentence , as well as payment of 500 euros in moral damage to the victim and 400 euros in legal costs .
The facts for which they were tried took place last summer. Robert , the homeless man in question, was asleep in front of the tribunal de grande instance of the Hérault metropolis alongside his 2 dogs , including Maya .
The latter, a young female Belgian Shepherd Malinois of 11 months, was no longer there when she woke up . Completely distraught , the thirty-something however received the support of a magistrate who was passing by. Robert lodged a complaint and an investigation was opened.
Luckily, a surveillance camera had filmed the whole scene: a car with 2 men on board (the driver and a passenger) had stopped briefly, one of the occupants got out to grab the quadruped and the duo immediately left. The suspects could have been identified by the license plate of their vehicle.
