The illegal importation of dogs into France from Eastern European countries is not weakening!

France 2

Each year, more than 50,000 dogs arrive on French territory from abroad, particularly Hungary. Illegal breeding, documents provided without verification and disrespect of elementary health rules characterize this lucrative traffic.

If the minimum age to bring a puppy into France is 3 months and 21 days , tens of thousands of young dogs still cross the border every year even though they have not even reached the age of. be weaned . This is what a survey broadcast on France 2 reports.

The journalists traveled to Hungary , one of the countries in Eastern Europe where this traffic is in full swing. Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia are also singled out in this area. They met members of animal welfare associations who are desperately trying to fight this scourge .

The report shows an illegal Hungarian breeding farm where dogs of different breeds live in appalling conditions. Beagles , Saint-Bernards and others are kept there as breeders , producing puppies which are then quickly resold on advertising sites, without even waiting for them to be old enough to do without their mother. These animals survive in cramped niches , surrounded by their droppings and receiving some semblance of meals that look more like vomit.

A breeder , filmed in secret, explains that it is enough to go to any veterinarian in the country by presenting the puppy, although too young, and an empty vaccine vial so that he delivers the documents allowing to pass the border.
