The 28-year-old Italian-Argentinian footballer had just finalized his transfer from FC Nantes to the club in Cardiff , Wales. He was on board a single-engine propeller that was to take him there when the aircraft crashed in the English Channel .
The wreckage was not located until 13 days later, on February 3. If a body could be seen there thanks to an unmanned underwater vehicle, it has not yet been possible to determine its identity to date; it could be his or that of the pilot , David Andrew Ibbotson .
