Prison sentence for the man who beat his dog in Poissy

In February, a man threw his dog to the ground in Poissy in the Yvelines. His act had been filmed by a witness. The individual was sentenced last week to prison.

Under driving rain and the eyes of stunned witnesses, a 48-year-old man had assaulted his dog in the Beauregard district in Poissy (78). The scene was filmed and the video posted on social media.

On the day of the incident, February 10, the individual in question had hit Kara , a one-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier , before lifting her up and throwing her to the ground with incredible brutality. Arrested the next day, he was summoned by the courts for immediate appearance and had been held in pre-trial detention since, reports the 30 Millions d’Amis Foundation on its site.

The latter, who had quickly come into contact with the police , was a civil party in this case. The SPA also acted soon after the video was released.

On Thursday March 12, the Versailles Criminal Court sentenced the defendant to a one-year prison sentence , including 6 months suspended, as well as 2 years of probation with obligation of care and the lifetime ban on keeping an animal . The bitch was also taken away from her , but she was already safe long before the verdict. 30 Million d’Amis specifies, in fact, that Kara had been quickly taken away from her executioner and that she was receiving treatment in a refuge .
