Veterinarian travels 12 hours to adopt dog while in lockdown

In full confinement, but in possession of an exit exemption, a Breton veterinarian traveled 1300 km to pick up the dog she had just adopted in Tarn-et-Garonne. Already owner of 2 doggies, she did not intend to have a 3rd, but it was love at first sight discovering the announcement of Jim.

After being suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pet adoptions resumed on April 16 . A new procedure has been put in place to respect health precautions during this period of confinement , as announced by the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner .

One of the first responsible adoptions that took place last Thursday is to be put to the credit of Anouk , a young veterinarian practicing in Ploërmel , town of Morbihan located about fifty km from Rennes .

In fact, as reported by La Dépêche du Midi , she had planned to adopt the dog Jim before the lockdown went into effect. Initially, she signed up for a Facebook group of dogs available for adoption not for herself, but for a friend . An ad had caught his attention then, that of a four-year-old quadruped by the name of Jim. She had literally fallen for him.

For 2 years, the animal had lived in the Castelsarrasin refuge in Tarn-et-Garonne, 650 km from her home. The distance did not deter him, nor the confinement that occurred in the meantime. With an exit waiver for adoption, she made the round trip, a 12-hour drive , to pick up Jim and bring him home.

He was thus able to get to know Anouk’s 2 other dogs and start his new life.
