Since opening the doors of their house to dogs in distress, this couple have saved thousands

By saving hundreds of dogs after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Danny and Ron decided to continue on this path. They have made their home a refuge where canines in difficulty are warmly welcomed and receive all the care they deserve.

16 years ago, Hurricane Katrina hit the southern and eastern United States, killing many people and causing extensive material damage. Touched by the fate of the animals who had found themselves homeless after the tragedy, Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta had taken care of 600 dogs.

The couple, who live in Wellington , Florida, have never stopped helping dogs in distress ever since. In 2008, they founded Danny and Ron’s Rescue in their own home.

To date, they have saved more than 12,500 abused, abandoned or starving dogs, as reported by CBS 12 .

The 2005 operation “ gave us the desire to do more. It only grew from then on. And when we look back, we can’t believe we did that, ”says Ron Danta .

The quadrupeds are all sterilized, vaccinated and identified there, before joining their new respective families.

Our mission is to make sure that people can adopt dogs and that dogs can have homes. We are doing our best in this direction, ”explains Danny Robertshaw .

Both regularly receive thank you messages from adoptive parents. Some even return to Danny and Ron’s Rescue to adopt another dog.

Danny Robertshaw and Ron Danta do not intend to stop there and have even prepared for the future. Their property will continue to welcome dogs in need when they are no longer in this world.

In addition, for 5 years, Danny and Ron’s Rescue has partnered with Meals on Wheels , a food bank in the region, to offer meals and accessories for dogs and cats to owners in precarious situations.
