Abandoned in the street by his master, this Labrador is rescued thanks to surveillance videos of the city

In Colombia, a motorist abandoned his dog in the street before restarting. An act that caused a wave of indignation in the country.

A scene at the same time heartbreaking and scandalous was filmed almost 2 weeks ago in Colombia, that of the abandonment of a dog by its owner in the middle of the street.

The facts took place on August 15 in the district of Fontibon , in Bogota , capital of the country. The video shows a car pulled to the side of the road, the hazard lights on, and a dog that had presumably just disembarked from it, Unilad reports. Shortly after, the vehicle started again , made a U-turn on the spot and drove off.

The poor canine, a Labrador Retriever , does not understand what just happened to him and starts running behind the car , which rushes away and leaves him at the scene. A passer-by, who witnessed the scene, tries to call back the motorist by whistling, but without success.

An incident that aroused anger and indignation among many Internet users, both in Colombia and elsewhere in the world, the video having been widely relayed on social networks. It is not yet known what became of the dog .

In Colombia, acts of mistreatment and cruelty to animals are punishable by fines of up to 43.9 million pesos, the equivalent of 10,000 euros. Last June, the country’s Congress approved a new law to fight against the abandonment of dogs and cats, the number of which exceeded one million in 2019 according to the Institute for the Protection and Welfare of Animals. .
