By taking care of a puppy which had just been discovered wandering, the director of a Peruvian refuge feared the reaction of the other residents, all adults. Their attitude pleasantly surprised her. The little canine himself didn’t seem to expect it.
As soon as she was informed of the fate of Osito , a puppy that had just been abandoned, Felicia Quispe Arana rushed to pick him up, reports The Dodo . At the head of the Colitas Sin Techo shelter in Cuzco , in the south-east of Peru, she helps dogs in distress in the region.
However, all the animals that live in its reception structure are adults. She didn’t know how they were going to react when they met little Osito . She was all the more worried that he had just experienced a trauma; his owners didn’t want them anymore and, overnight, he found himself totally on his own, facing the unknown.

The last thing Felicia Quispe Arana wanted was for the puppy to go through another painful ordeal while facing his elders. However, the latter did not disappoint her.
A warm welcome to the heart
The presentations took place in the courtyard of the refuge. Sitting in the center, unsure of what to do, Osito saw his adult fellows rushing in his direction. They were all wagging their tails and circling him, licking his muzzle. He quickly realized that they had come to welcome and comfort him. He seemed surprised himself …
A touching scene, which Felicia Quispe Arana had the good idea to film. The video was posted on The Dodo’s YouTube channel.
The following days, they accompanied the newcomer and helped him integrate. He learned a lot from them. Then a loving family was found for Osito , who was thus adopted.
“ Now he has had a family. I hope he will have a long and happy life , ”says Felicia Quispe Arana . She also says she wishes the dogs who took her so well to have the same luck.
