In Canada, photos showing a dog being transported without consideration for its safety and well-being have been shared en masse on social media. A wave of indignation and a mobilization that led to the identification of the owner and the location of the animal. The police and the SPCA are working together to follow up on this case.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have opened an investigation after a dog was seen in a transport crate strapped to the back of a camper van under the sun, as reported by Terrace Standard on Monday, June 28.

The day before, the police and the local SPCA had been contacted by many Internet users and media about the animal. The vehicle in question had been spotted on a highway near Keremeos , British Columbia, en route to Osoyoos .

Widely relayed on Facebook , the images are indeed shocking, the temperature having reached 40 ° C that day in the region. The quadruped, which appears to be a German Shepherd, was at risk of an accident (fall, hit by a vehicle from the rear, etc.) as much as heat stroke. We can also clearly see him sticking his tongue out in the photos.

The police did not manage to find the motorhome immediately, despite the identification of its driver and therefore the owner of the dog. It wasn’t until Sunday afternoon that they managed to locate him on a campsite in the town of Oliver . The German Shepherd was also seen and appeared to be in good health.

The authorities have not yet proceeded to seize him. They work, in consultation with the SPCA , to specify the charges to be brought against the master. He could in particular be prosecuted for cruelty to an animal. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Animal Protection Association are also working to find the best solution to ensure the safety and well-being of the dog.
