On October 14, the Valley Oak SPCA shelter , located in Visalia , California, took in 16 dogs that belonged to a couple who found themselves in a precarious situation , reports Visalia Times Delta .

The canines were first treated for fleas and then received dental treatment . They then underwent blood samples to assess their degrees of anemia. Also, one of the bitches is pregnant . The older one found it more difficult than the others to adapt to his new environment and refused to eat properly. However, within a few days, their health improved .

Its refuge lacking places, the Valley Oak SPCA is looking for solutions to place a few. A dog has already been adopted and 3 others sent to other structures further north, in Washington State: Panda Paws Rescue and Humane Society for Southwest Washington .
