History of the breed
The breed of the Biewer Yorkshire is a breed due to the selection of subjects of Yorkshire Terrier distinguished from it by the color of its coat . It had been created from a selection work carried out by Mr. and Mrs. Biewer (hence its name), a couple of German breeders who, from the mid-1980s , had strived to maintain a line of Yorkshire Terriers with tricolor coat and white variegation. Due to their color, Mr. Biewer’s dogs were not allowed to be exhibited in 1988.
Despite everything, breeders have continued to develop this variety which has not yet been recognized as a pure breed by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and the Société Centrale Canine (SCC), but recognized by the United Kennel Club in the United States. United (UKC). A situation which would however be on the way to change, as efforts are continuing in this direction. The Biewer Yorkshire is quite rare in France , where a club dedicated to the breed has also been founded.

The Biewer Yorkshire is definitely an indoor dog. The lack of undercoat in this dog means that it is not effectively protected from cold and bad weather . He prefers to live in the warmth of a home, close to his master and his family, but never balks at having fun outside whenever he has the chance . It can therefore adapt to any lifestyle as long as it is sheltered from harsh climatic conditions and receives appropriate care.

Ease of grooming |
The Biewer Yorkshire does not moult. Nevertheless, his long coat requires constant maintenance, not only to preserve its natural beauty, but also to prevent the formation of knots. For subjects not participating in exhibitions, they may be sectioned
It is recommended to brush and comb the dog daily to clean and untangle his coat . It is also necessary to plan professional grooming sessions several times a year . His nails should be cut by the veterinarian or the groomer on a regular basis, just like the hairs between the pads which are likely to interfere with walking.
