History of the breed

the   Braque du Bourbonnais was on the verge of extinction after the 1930s, when drastic selections were made to obtain only naturally anuran puppies (devoid of tails). But 4 decades later, many breeders have set out to save the breed by producing quality litters. The Braque du Bourbonnais breed was definitively recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on June 29, 1955.
