History of the breed
Of British origin, the Bullmastiff is the result of the cross between the Mastiff and the English Bulldog . Powerful, alert and intelligent, he has traditionally been used as a watchdog. The Bullmastiff also put his talents to the service of the gamekeepers, whom he helped to track down intruders and poachers. Rather than bite them, he was trained to pin them to the ground to immobilize them.
