Sad news from Johannesburg: Jazz, the young giraffe abandoned by her mother and taken under her wing by a dog, has died of a brain hemorrhage. The story of friendship which had linked the 2 animals had moved a lot of people in South Africa as elsewhere.
We spoke to you last month about this magnificent friendship born between Jazz the young giraffe and Hunter the dog . A few days after giving birth to him, the mother of the ruminant, having no doubt understood that he was too weak to survive, had abandoned him . Brought to the Rhino Orphanage , a South African rhino sanctuary , Jazz was quickly comforted by the canine. He had gotten into the habit of sleeping by his side and watching over him .

Unfortunately, at the beginning of December, Jazz’s health had deteriorated considerably. The giraffe’s legs were no longer able to carry him, and then one day he collapsed while he was bleeding from his eyes . The animal suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage .
Despite the efforts of the Rhino Orphanage staff , Jazz died, plunging the whole team, starting with Hunter , in great sadness .
