The SPA intervenes and saves 33 dogs in an illegal breeding. They lived in deplorable conditions!

A couple had an illegal breeding at their home in the Yvelines, and had been the subject of several reports. The man and his wife appeared on Monday before the Versailles Criminal Court. They claim to have let themselves be overwhelmed by the situation and that their activity now conforms to standards.

Martine , 65, and José , 53, kept 33 dogs in narrow cages and in deplorable conditions at home in Andrésy (78), as part of an illegal breeding . Animals that lived in the midst of their own urine and had no water at their disposal. They were rescued and taken care of by the SPA , civil party in the couple’s trial which began on Monday (November 23, 2020) at the Versailles Criminal Court .

The alleged facts date from 2017, but their activity was already in the sights of the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP) since 2004 , reports Le Parisien .

The buyers of a Chihuahua and a Jack Russell Terrier from this couple had filed a complaint after finding that they were sick and traumatized , consequences of the mistreatment they suffered before their sale. Other reports followed.

The defendants would have sold more than 500 dogs according to the SPA, at prices between 800 and 1000 euros. The canids were mainly supplied by an octogenarian living between Roubaix (59) and Belgium. The resale was done either through classified ads or in the pet store run by their daughter, a graduate groomer .
