At the end of his rope after moving away from his master, a dog was found several hours later by the latter, but he could not rescue him alone. The Bolquère CRS intervened to bring him back to the Catalan station in a rescue sled.
A Saint-Bernard of about fifty kilograms was rescued this Tuesday (February 2, 2021) in a town in the Pyrénées-Orientales, as reported by France Bleu . He was totally exhausted after getting lost on a hike.
In the morning, the dog in question accompanied its owner on a ski trip to Formiguères. The animal then got ahead of its master to the point that the latter could no longer see it. The man eventually lost track of his four-legged friend.
He was too tired to come back to his master
It was not until around 4:30 p.m. that he managed to find him . The Saint-Bernard was far ahead, at the top of the chairlift. He was slumped on the ground, because he had lost all his energy during his mad advance. He no longer had the strength to turn back to join his master.
The skier needed help to bring him back to the Formiguères resort. He couldn’t do it alone, especially because of the dog’s weight. He then called for help and, shortly after, a first CRS team from Bolquère arrived in a tracked quad. A vehicle which, however, proved useless in this situation, due to the darkness and difficult terrain .

At 9 p.m., their colleagues joined them on skis and provided with a rescue sled . They installed the canine there and began the descent , which took longer than expected. The Saint-Bernard has, in fact, left the sled several times, which forced the rescuers to tie it up.
Shortly before 11 p.m., the rescue was completed. Saint Bernards are known to be stubborn and this dog is obviously no exception. What matters, however, is that he is safe and sound .
